An uncommon spirit. But I was always closer with his brother.

Galadriel about Elros

Elros, called Elros Tar-Minyatur by the Númenóreans, was the brother of Elrond. After the First Age, he chose to be mortal and became the first King of Númenor.

History[]

Elros was a half human half-Elf and the brother of Elrond. They lived together in Lindon where he befriended Galadriel, the eventual leader of the Northern Armies, though she was closer to Elrond.[1]. During the Great War against Morgoth, Elros helped conquer the dark creature.[2]

After Morgoth's defeat, Elros and Elrond were given the choice by higher powers to remain either a human or an elf. Elros chose a mortal life and became the first King of Númenor. His brother chose immortality[3] and stayed in Lindon.

Elros contributed greatly to Númenor, and was laid to rest in the city. His history with Elrond was documented in the Hall of Lore on a beautiful tapestry.[1]
