Eregion was an Elven realm in Middle-earth. Eregion was home to Lord Celebrimbor and the Elven-smiths. Established during the Second Age, Eregion lay to the west of the Misty Mountains and the Dwarven kingdom of Khazad-dûm. The Elves of Eregion and the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm traded freely between each other. During the Second Age, Celebrimbor forged the Rings of Power within his workshop in Eregion.
Description[]
The realm of Eregion was located in the west of the region known as Eriador. The river Bruinen bordered Eregion to the east, while the river Glanduin run along its southern borders. The Misty Mountains lay to the east.[2] While the Elven city Lindon is built to elegantly integrate with the beauty of nature, Eregion's purpose is to meld such natural forms with a grander vision: to echo the glory of Valinor itself, as well as the great cities destroyed in the First Age.[3]
History[]
Eregion was the newest Elven realm in Middle-earth,[4] and was built to meld the beauty of the natural world with a vision of echoing the glory of Valinor itself, and to pay tribute to the great cities that had fallen during the First Age.[5] Founded in the early years of the Second Age by the High Elves known as the Noldor, who were renowned for their skills as craftsmen, the realm lay to the west of the Misty Mountains.[4] The city was home to Celebrimbor, and contained his workshop.[1] The Dwarves of Khazad-dûm worked with the Elves to build Celebrimbor's towers.[6]
