The Hermit's Hat, as recorded in Sadoc Burrows' Star-book
The Hermit's Hat was a constellation above Tom Bombadil's home,[1] visible in the sky only from somewhere deep in the far-flung lands of Rhûn where "the skies are strange." The Stranger, after falling to Middle-earth, instinctively knew to seek out the constellation, and tried to communicate this to the Harfoots through drawings in the ground, and by commanding fireflies to assume the shape of the constellation. Sadoc Burrows, Trail-finder for the Harfoots, has the symbol recorded in his Star-book.
